Exegetical Narrations in Sunan Abi Dawood: Surah Al-An'am as a Model (An Analytical Study)

Abstract

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon our Master Muhammad, His servant and Messenger, and upon his family and companions, and those who follow them. As for what follows: The book "Sunan" by Abu Dawood is a specialized compilation of noble prophetic traditions (Hadiths). Imam Abu Dawood compiled these traditions, relying on his teachers or those in his lineage who transmitted these narrations. He began by collecting interpretive narrations in his book "Sunan Abu Dawood" starting from Surah Al-An'am. This was done through an analytical study in accordance with the methodology of the people of Hadith. He verified the authenticity of these narrations, classified them as sound or weak, based on the opinions and judgments of scholars from both early and later generations. He also pointed out the unusual narrations and provided biographical information about the narrators mentioned in the chains of transmission. The book highlights the various benefits contained within the Hadiths, along with the sources and references Imam Abu Dawood relied upon. I hope that I have succeeded in this endeavor, and I ask Allah to bless it and accept it. May He make it pleasing to Him, for He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive.
